Update 13th March 2013

Good morning! And that’s literally speaking of course as this amazing autumn weather keeps rolling along. I know I’m always talking about the weather but this time of year is just the best! The water is soooo warm right now! I’ve been surfing in just boardies and I know that’s nothing unusual as a lot of people are, but for me it’s a rarity not to have some kind of rubber on.

If you haven’t seen Tim Bonython’s ‘Immersion’ The movie, it’s now out on DVD. With so many all time moments, including the biggest paddle and tow sessions ever, at Cloudbreak and Teahupoo respectively, I recommend grabbing this one for the collection. I can’t stop watching my new copy. Click the ad link for info.

Even though the internet hasn’t really been showing it, the waves have been quite good the last few days. It’s dropped a fair bit today but hold onto your legrope as Saturday looks like a cracker with a fresh new east swell and light off shore winds.

Heads up! Quik Pro semis about to start. Spartan v’s Parko, Fanning v’s that old bald guy.

Yew!

Update 12th March 2013

I had a sneaky suspicion last night that I may need to hit east facing Maroubra for the report today. I was stoked I was right coz as I rolled down the hill you could see that the swell was well and truly getting in there at a decent 3 ft + on the sets. What made it even better was that there was next to no wind and if there was any at all it was coming out of the favorable NW. What made it worse for you guys was that there was easily a pack of 50 – 80 on it at sunrise. So everyone had the same idea! Still there were heaps of fun ones to go around.

If you check the forecast at Coastalwatch you can see that we have plenty more swell on the way! This weekend is shaping up to be pretty awesome. Now I just have to decide on where to head?

Have a great day – Happy surfing. Cheers Brad 😉

Update 11th March 2013

Just a quick one this morning folks. There are some fun waves around hitting the 3ft mark out of the SE. Not much wind around either!  I rocked on down to Bondi and came across a hell looking right shorey. It looked like heaps of fun. I got my froth on and thought about having a wave myself but I have to run and go and clean up the remnants of a rockin wedding party. Yep – I am married now to the lovely Christie. I am one lucky fella that is for sure!

Waves should improve when the tide drops. South Bondi is the GO! Get out there!

Have a great day – Brad

Up-date 8th March 2013

Say the weather is a ''she''. Well I think she doesn't know what she wants today…She made us wet, and then gave us hope with a few rays of sunshine, but changed her mind again (definitely a ''she'' ! ahaha).

The high tide swollowed almost all the tiny bits of swell. Groms, or super keen only. Or try your luck late morning, you might get more lucky. The theme of the morning was ''shorebreak surfing'', so I reckoned I'd get wet with the housing. Shooting outside the water under the rain wasn't too much fun…

I'm getting excited today. Why, well because tomorrow, one of my best mates is getting married to a beautiful (pregnant) gal ! Sorry girls, from tomorrow onwards, Brad Malyon is gonna be officially off the market ! And I'm gonna be partying hard to celebrate it ! Can't wait…

I hope ''She'' is gonna be nice with us tomorrow. I hope she decides to make the sun shine, and that she'll stick to it.

It's Friday. I hope it put a smile on your beach-bum's faces !

Cheers,

Franck

Update 7th March 2013

That marvelous autumn weather we have been longing for is finally back. After the last week of below average temps I was starting to think we were doomed to an early winter start. Ye of little faith! Our big brown land was never going to desert us that quick.

Not much swell for surfers unfortunately but that didn’t stop a tight, crowded pack of frothers jamming the backwash affected shorebreak at Bondi this morning. It was crazy swimming around out there with surfers coming from all directions. I was glad I decided to wear my helmet, as there were some close calls.

The Quiksilver Pro is on hold for a possible start later today at Kirra. Right now on the Goldy the women are out there pulling into some heavy little drainers. With the swell predicted to get bigger we could see some great pits for the remainder of the event.

Enjoy your day!
