Silhouettes

Hi Frothers!

It is a bit of a special morning for me today. I arrived at the beach, and with the cool temperature, the flat water and the southerly puffing, it almost felt like Winter had arrived. The beach was (relatively) empty for the season. I thought ”oh…that’ll be hard this morning to shoot”. And then I saw a text message telling me that our good friend Ryan had just passed away. Mid 30s, diagnosed with Leukaemia 4 weeks ago and 2 weeks into chemo. Married a year and a half ago. It’s like I had been hit by a bus. Knocked out.

I felt like going home and skipping today’s update, but I decided to push on and try to get something interesting for you to see, now looking at my ”challenge” to come up with a few images as a really easy one. So I reckoned I’d do a series of silhouettes. And some of those images came out alright I think. Life is pretty much like photography: if you struggle, just change the angle on how you view things, and you will get results.

I also wanted to inform you that you might (have) experience(d) some difficulties whilst navigating on our website. You can thank the hackers for that. We’ve been hacked a couple of weeks back and we’ll have a totally new website built from ground up in a few days (we’ll have it up during the Xmas break). Don’t worry, this will not affect you in any way other than making the navigation difficult. If you need to purchase/enquire about anything, please contact us on [email protected] or 0499448464. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I don’t want to be stating the obvious, but even if we want to prepare for tomorrow, we should not forget to live for today.

This one is for you Ryan & Amanda.

From Sunset To Sunrise

Hi Frothers!

A great morning down at the beach this morning…but I must say, I was a bit surprised (disappointed) not to see more rideable waves (close-outs mainly), especially after shooting some screamers last night at sunset. So I decided to put a few shots of last night as I think the waves + the light + the mist made for really warm summery images.

Today has got beach day written all over it. But rather early than late. We’re going to be well above 30ºC, so go enjoy a dip if you can.

D-Day -5 before Xmas: we still have some 2017 calendars, but stocks are going to run low soon, so go get your copy and put a smile on a frother you know for Xmas.

You can ORDER THEM HERE or go to the new concept store FIRST BASE (shop 13/180 Campbell Parade in Bondi – At the base of the Pacific building). If you want to shop ethically produced & stylish Active Wear, that’s where you want to stop by. Jump on their website to read about the big and small changes they’re doing to make a difference and how they’ll contribute to make your purchase carbon neutral.

Oh, by the way, the PIPE Finals are on. Michel Bourez just took JJF out. Big surprise. Not the biggest/most consistant conditions, but still worth watching!

You can also find our 2017 calendars at: Gertrude & Alice (Bondi), Chapter 1 (Bondi), Let’s Go Surfing (North Bondi), Dive Center Bondi (Bondi), Three Blue Ducks (Rosebery), Tamarama Cafe (Tama), & Vida Surf Store (Bondi).

Have a great day!

Electric

Hi Frothers!

The atmosphere was certainly electric last night! An incredible show that officially opened the 2016/2017 storm season.

After a few days being sick & fully dedicated to some free-lance work (”free-lance” is a misleading concept I think: you’re actually not that free…), I was stoked to have an excuse to shoot something different. I wasn’t the only one running around with a tripod.

At one point, the storm was cell was so close (right above me) that I composed the shot, set the camera on multiple exposures so that I could run away from it and let the camera take a few long exposures: I never feel too confident standing next to a metallic tripod and alloy body camera in the middle of a park, on a beach or on top of a cliff…

Have you purchased your copy of our 2017 Frothrers Calendars? The stock won’t last forever so ORDER THEM HERE!

We’ve sent some to New York, London, Paris, Geneva & Frankfurt! I always find it so rewarding to know that somewhere remote someone is looking a Frothers Gallery image.

Have a great weekend!

For The Swimmers

[vc_row][vc_column]

[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Hi Frothers!

I missed the morning photo-shoots this week. After 3 days of commercial photography that have kept me away from the beach the last few days, I was glad to be back. For those interested, I was actually shooting some lifetsyle/fashion for a luxury watch brand, with watches going from $110,000 to $450,000 per piece. One watch = a lifetime of all photo gear and surf-trips. I’d take the later.

Because the surf was so tiny, I decided to gravitate around the swimmers at Bronte this morning. This pool has the highest concentration of smily people. There must be something in the water over there. Everyone looks happy!

Today is Friday (obviously) which means that you could get away with an early departure from work. So I suggest you smoke-bomb your way out and run for a swim as we’ll be well over 30ºC today! So hit the water!

Have you thought of our 2017 Frothrers Calendars for your Xmas shopping? They are available for purchase: only $29.90 (incl GST), for a super slick looking quality calendar with original images from Bondi to Maroubra. ORDER THEM HERE!

You can also find them at: Gertrude & Alice (Bondi), Chapter 1 (Bondi), Let’s Go Surfing (North Bondi), Dive Center Bondi (Bondi) & Three Blue Ducks (Rosebery).

Have a great day!
