Waves

Hi Frothers !

Well….one thing I can tell you: there are waves!

My God! Today is like a perfect Winter day, with warm water: it’s super chilly (15 degrees this morning), windy, and there is a big (and increasing) South swell. Not your usual January summery conditions. It looks like July.

I drove down to Maroubra to find a South protected corner. Good bet indeed. It’s big. It’s offshore. It’s pumping. But there is a lot of water moving around! Banks will change over the course of the next few days. Tomorrow should be epic!

Little bonus of the morning: last night pastel sunset. Pretty cool.

Have a good day.

Cheers,

Franck

Crescent Head

Hi Frothers !

Rather than moaning about the dreadful weather, or the rain that spoiled Australia Day yesterday, I thought I’d post some shots taken on Sunday morning in Crescent Head, on my way back from Byron Bay. I am hoping this would cheer you up a bit and make you want to leave town on a little road trip for less crowded waves, and barbie time with a couple of your best friends (sounds like a Corona ad…).

2 to 4 foot runners, great atmosphere in the water, impeccable sky. If you were lucky, you could get one of those gems, the wave that connects all the way, that took you from out the back to the river mouth. After I put the cameras back in the bags, I caught many waves, but managed to get 3 of those: they made my day. Over a minute of uninterrupted surfing. I tried to figure out how many waves I’d need to catch in Bondi to clock the same surfing time…

Today is kind of the ”back to school” day for most professionals. Hardly anyone is on holidays anymore. It’s full steam again till Easter. That’s alright. We’ll get through this. It happens every year…:)

Have a good day.

Cheers,

Franck

Coffs

Hi Frothers !

Its been a mixed bag on the Coffs Coast this January. Mainly small waves and northerly winds with a few good east swells here and there to keep the locals busy.

I’ve been enjoying the warm weather , doing some surfing and clocking some photography time capturing some surreal sunrises, my usual wave portraits and some surf action.

We’re almost there. Australia Day long weekend is ’round the corner, so enjoy it guys!

Cheers ,

Martin

Lighthouse

Hi Frothers!

It doesn’t look like so, but I’ve been pretty busy here, so I haven’t been able to capture much surfing yesterday and today. I just managed to go for a quick walk at the lighthouse. I’ve been there many times, but I still find this place amazing. The lighthouse itself, but the cliffs, the panoramic scenery, and the helicopter view on Tallow Beach.

I hope you guys are getting ready to hit the road for Australia Day long weekend. Wherever you go, have fun, be safe, and I hope you’ll get a few waves too.

Tomorrow, Martin will be taking over.

Have a great day!

Tallow

Hi Frothers!

Telling you that the surf is photogenic here in Tallow’s would be un understatement. This place is a delight to shoot at sunset.

Fun 2-3 fters, few people, loads of stingy jellyfish, and a big dose of sun and colours made the evening combo.

The weather is shifting a bit now, but with that change should come some slightly bigger swell. Fingers crossed.

Have fun!
