Corner

Hi Frothers !

It was all happening in the very South corner of Bondi this morning. The only decent looking and fun wave was there. The other banks were a bit wobbly and mushy at low tide.

When my scooter finally decided to start late this morning, I had a drive past Tama, which was actually looking quite nice and fun. 3 to 4 ft+. I reckon that’d be today’s pick for a good wave.

The weather was perfect this morning, excellent day for a swim. You just have to avoid getting in contact with our little avatar friends: they came in packs ! The storm is now creeping over the Eastern Suburbs: the good weather doesn’t seem to hang around for very long those days.

Have a great weekend !

30 seconds

Hi Frothers !

It’s Thursday. Cleaning day at the Icebergs and a pretty sad looking morning too. Not what we’d expect on a January day.

So I took only a couple of shots worth sharing this morning. All at 30 seconds shutter speed, to blur the water and the thick clouds, attempting to make bad weather look better.

There were a few waves around, but nothing too amazing either. Tama and Bondi will be the go if you want to go for a wave protected from the Northerly.

Tomorrow should be a nice day, and it’ll be Friday too: see you then !

Straya Day

Hi Frothers !

I hope you had a great weekend. Maybe you’ve been away from the craze and left the ‘burbs for quieter landscapes, and less busy waves. Maybe you’ve enjoyed Sydney wrapped in flags. Maybe you’ve stayed local since the weather wasn’t actually as bad as forecasted (bloody weatherman !). In any case, I hope you’ve enjoyed the long weekend.

If you were away for yesterday’s celebrations, here are some shots to help you catch up. A little bit of ”street photography” style shots, for a change. Cool summer and family vibes around the beach. The cloudy morning quickly became a perfect day.

The only thing that made me mad is this group of people sitting next to us on the sand. They brought a big bag with soft drinks, beers, cups and food. After coming back from the water from a quick dip, they had left. But all their trash was still on the sand. All of it. Not even the slightest effort made to take some of it to the bins which were only 40 meters away, forcing us to clean for them. I usually try to have empathy with people, but I just don’t get that. I don’t.

Finally, on a different note, yesterday brought a bad news: Big Wave Dave from Let’s Go Surfing passed away in an avalanche. A really sad news for our community. Our thoughts to Dave’s close ones.

Enjoy today.

PS: I hope you guys got today’s sunrise before it all turned to rain. I missed it ! 🙁

The Calm In Between The Storms

Hi Frothers !

We’re in between storms. The ocean is silver. Glassy. Despite the big fluro crew on the South end of the beach, there was this feeling of peacefulness this morning.

Yes, we’re going to get more rain later today. But in the meantime, I suggest you duck out and go for a couple of waves. It’s fun ! And with less water, it might become even better.

There is a long weekend ahead. Hopefully you get the Monday off. The problem is: the forecast is not looking too promising. However, there should be plenty of swell around (at 15 sec !). So I reckon it’s still a good idea to pack up a tent a get out of town to find an empty wave somewhere. That’s what I’ll be doing.

Gone surfing ! See you on Wednesday !

Tropical Paradise

Hi Frothers !

Bondi just turned into a tropical paradise in the last few days: I can’t remember swimming in such warm water. The water clarity is amazing, and the weather…God, the weather is P E R F E C T, especially if you like it hot. And judging by how busy the beach is during the day, I know you do.

At the end of today, there will certainly be some burnt backs after the little nap on the sand, dozens of liters of icecream sold, hundreds of cans of coconut water drank, and thousands of near-misses in the surf as everyone will be fighting for the few waves around. In summary: another amazing day in Bondi.
