Up-date 23rd June 2013

A glorious morning down at the beach today. Only the wetties are the indication we're not in Summer !

Sorry for late up-date, but I went from a shooting at the Beach to another shooting in the City. But, if it wasn't for this job waiting for me, I'd have stayed at the Beach, grabbed my board (any kind would work today, even though longer ones were the majority still) and went for a paddle.

The sky was perfectly blue, the waves, waist to chest/head high, clean and frequent. Those are the sign on the incoming one, scheduled for tomorrow and solid ! Bondi might not be the pick. It'll probably be close-out central.

Have a nice sunny day !

Update 19th July 2013

6am. I’m sitting in Hall Street, having a coffee with a friend while stripping off the layers of cloths I instinctively wore.  Im trying to keep myself from over heating, as the perspiration begins to bead on my brow. What season is this? The caffeine rush must be confusing me because I thought we were smack in the middle of winter right now.

July is usually our coldest month but if we hit 20c today, it seems we will be breaking another record. This time, for a July warm spell. Crazy year. Last month we broke a June wet spell record. Hopefully August will keep the trend going and we'll break the longest good swell period record, because right now there still isn’t much happening around here.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Update 18th July 2013

Once again I just couldn't resist getting into the wet today. This morning kicked off like a beauty. Beautiful golden light filled the valley of Bondi then once in the water with the camera the light dazzled beneath the surface. While the waves above were average to say the least…. barely knee high and weak as, there is always something cool or interesting to capture below. Regardless of what the waves are like today – the fact of the matter is that it is going to be 21 degrees today. Now that's a good excuse to get out there!

It was great to see Bishan Rajapakse back out in the line up after his world famous slap from the big mumma whale last week. Now that is a story to tell the kids! Check out his BLOG here….

Enjoy the day….Brad

Update 17th July 2013

Once the early morning clouds departed I was out there with the housing on the best little bank at Bondi. A long running waist high right hander just off 2nd ramp which is very much suited to a log and good times. Only a handful of dudes were on it making it todays little hidden treasure.

As you can see it's an amazing day out there. The water isn't as cold as you would expect for this time of year. The big toe tells me somewhere in the 17 – 18 degrees mark. Nothing to stress out about that's for sure. Not much wind either – Just happy sunny rays and superglassy waist high walls.

I'll be logging today – Hope to see you out there!

Update 16th July 2013

Shiny wet roads leading to the beach this morning. It’s grey and overcast again, without a breath of wind.

With the layer of low cloud trapping what warmth there is for this time of year, it was actually quite pleasant wandering around the shore this morning. It also made it easy to strip, half naked, while pulling on a wetsuit.

The water isn’t cold but with this nor’easter predicted we might see a drop over the next day or two.

Not much swell to speak of. The increase in period on the chart did nothing to bring it up today. Bondi is probably the biggest if you’re looking for a grovel.
