Hi Frothers !
I had to rush for a meeting in town after shooting this morning, so forgive me for the late up-date today.
I bumped into a few Santas this morning. I talked to one of them and placed my order for the 25th, as I have been a good boy (almost) all year: a new lens, a new board, a couple of plane tickets to the tropics, a couple of plane tickets to the cold…I made sure I got all basis covered. Aim high to shoot straight.
I just hope I talked to the right Santa…
Have a great afternoon.

Hi Frothers !
We had some visitors this morning in Bondi, who came for a morning swim in the bay.
Every early bird could enjoy the show and have a swim with these guys.
I keep trying to find another place in the World where you can swim with the dolphins before work, catch a few waves and have a coffee before heading to work in a glass building 20min away from the beach…I have to admit that I can’t think of any.
We’re lucky !
Have a great week.

Hi Frothers !
I was pressed with time this morning and went for a quick swim with the camera this morning (Tiny. Micro. Nano). Nothing incredible, as you can see.
However, what I witnessed was ”interesting”. The atmosphere in the water was nice and friendly, as it usually is. And then Mr Grumpy paddled out. It’s amazing how 1 person can change the vibe of the whole line-up in just a few seconds. Pissed off at the young lady for being inside. Pissed off at a beginner (for…being a beginner ?). Pissed off at Jesse Botella for loosing his finless faomie. Pissed off and arguing at a paddler for taking off far on the shoulder, and going on & on & on about it (on the edge of racism too). Out of 10 people at the line-up, Mr Grumpy managed to get argue with 5, in a span of 10 minutes.
People come to the beach to get wet, chill out, try to forget their phones for an hour, get away from the craziness and intensity of the World. Some people take this with them in the water and spread this stressful vibe around. I admit that Bondi can get me frustrated sometimes. When it’s the case, time for me to leave the beach. I sincerely wish Mr Grumpy to feel better.
On a different note, I have a message to share from Bondi Lifeguard and FTW founder Matt Dee, who wanted to share a few words on suicide prevention:
”To all those who want to save a life of a thousand
Just letting all our close friends and all of our surf industry family know that in three weeks we are launching the biggest step forward in mental health in Australia ever. And we are tying it in to an entertainment format to gain more more of an audience, not just those seeking help.
Our passion for the cause started with the loss of my brother Jonathan and sister Rachel to suicide. Having worked for Suicide Prevention Aust (SPA) for 8 years we saw a gap in the services and found a way to save thousands of lives world wide with our affiliation with telco companies and the hardwiring of the app onto all their phones. A full mental health toolkit on everybody’s handset will drop the suicide statistics rapidly! With roughly one million suicides yearly and with suicide being Australia’s biggest killer of 15-45 year olds it is definitely time for change!
We have phase one and two ready for launch, we are franticly raising funds for the completion of phase three due for release in the first or second week of January. Here at FTW we have raised nearly half a million dollars for SPA without taking a cent in return. We have an opportunity to save so many lives and save the families that get torn apart everyday.
If you cannot contribute that is fine, all we ask is that you watch this 4 minute clip and perhaps you may know someone in a position to assist us. We sincerely just want people to see what we are striving for and give you the opportunity to be apart of our rapidly growing family and offer you the gift of saving lives .
Please watch https://readyfundgo.com/projects/ftw-revolution-app-help-prevent-suicide/
For more information please feel free to contact us, and four minutes of your time is appreciated greatly!
Kind regards
Matt Dee”
The Pipe Masters was on this morning. Unfortunately, this final event for 2015 will be running without World Title contender Owen Wright who wiped-out badly yesterday in a free surf session, forcing him to be hospitalized. Boy, Pipeline is taking its toll this week…
Have a great weekend.

Hi Frothers !
What an incredible and exciting night for all the storm lovers !
I have rarely seen such an active storm system. There were more lightnings than you could count. It was fairly easy to get lucky, even with a phone or handholding the camera. The #crazystorm must be full of images of Sydney today.
This morning was dull and not interesting weather/surf-wise. So, to brighten your day, why don’t you dial in to the PipeMasters ? It’s on !
Have a great day !

Hi Frothers !
After a rainy night, this morning was dark. Really dark. Stormy.
As I drove past Bondi, I must say I wasn’t impressed with what I saw, so I made my way to Tama, looking a bit better already, and only 4 guys out. It was a bit slow, but occasionally a nice one would come through (very shifty though – lots of paddling involved).
I decided to go back to Bondi to have a look again, and things had improved dramatically already. The Southern end bank looked really nice for this swell size & direction. Went home, worked a bit, went out for another scout and those rights were so fun that I grabbed the board, put a pair of boardies and went for a few waves. Really fun ones ! Only mistake I made: only wearing boardies ! The water is super chilly today. This might come handy later today when it’s 35ºC though…
Have a great day !
