Update Monday 15th August

Busy little bees everywhere at Bondi this morning. Trucks wizzing around, workmen disassembling City to Surf structures, cleaners emptying rubbish bins. This added in with the usual traffic of people and what they do early in Bondi each morning, appeared to make it look quite crowded. The surf on the other hand was not. Only small again today but with an incoming tide and a nice light westerly grooming the wave faces, it's quite fun and the keen half dozen surfers who put in the effort to rise early and pull on the steamer, were all  rewarded with some nice little 2 foot peaks.

Winds should stay light and swing into the north east during the next couple of days, with another kick of south swell due Thursday. It definitely hasn't been a bad winter, wave wise and I don't think I've ever felt the water this warm at this time of year.

Have a great week everyone. See you in the lineup!

Cheers

Update 12th August 2011

Some mornings you just don't want to get out of bed. Listening to the wind howl between the houses outside, I knew it wasn't going to be pretty down at the beach.

Wet footpaths and a dark, patchy sky greeted me as I stepped from the car. A horrible southerly wind had sprung up over night, destroying what was left of the clean conditions we have been so fortunate to have for quite a while. Five very keen surfers dotted the lineup over the whole of Bondi. A stark difference to the last few days of packed conditions. Not too many runners around either. Maybe they are all resting up for the big race on Sunday. City to Surf is well and truly here again with the beach looking like tent city. Trucks and workmen are  everywhere, feverishly putting together the finishing touches, while flashing road signs pulse warnings and restrictions at every main turn.

Tomorrow looks like your day for a weekend surf fix with winds swinging back off shore again but returning to southerly on Sunday for what is looking like being a wet race. Bondi will be the pick surf spot again with a small south swell running.

If you are a Bondi local and don't have a garage, hold onto your parking spot after Saturday afternoon and walk for a surf on Sunday. It will be City to Surf mayhem out there.

Our Gallery is open all weekend at 145 MacPherson Street, Bronte. Pop in and check us out if you're in the area.

Have a great weekend!

Update 11th August 2011

We were all unable to shoot this morning, as work got the better of us, so I sifted through the archives from the last few days trying to find some colour and gold for your viewing.

I did manage a fly by at Bondi and as I pulled up I saw the Professor Jono Arnold pull into a nice little left barrel. Sorry I didn't capture it Jono but I got your back if you need any confirmation from the Mrs or work mates today. Sick wave indeed! So yes, Bondi is great again this morning. Good quality waves in the 3ft to maybe 4ft range peeling left and right in the south corner. It's looking a lot more consistent than yesterday. A little less packed to. Is everybody surfed out?

I love SURFLINE – We have all been guilty of laying down a claim after a tiny head dip. This will give you a good insight into when you should and most of all when you should not! This video is hilarious please WATCH

The gallery is open all day. 145C Macpherson St Bronte – Right next door to Iggy's bread shop. Yummiest bread in all the land.

Have a smiley happy kinda day! – Brad

Update 10th August 2011

I thought I wasn't going to survive the frost bitten run across the sand this morning, but when I hit the 18 degree water all my worries quickly subsided. The next hurdle was battling the super intense crowd of South Bondi. Sometimes I wear helmets in the line up when I shoot, but that's usually for angry reef breaks and the like. It is dangerous out there people. Remember the etiquette? It seems there is none at Bondi these days.

The waves are hitting the 2 – 3ft mark and out of the SSE, combined with a chilly WNW wind. Bondi is your best bet and is the only bank in the Eastern beaches at the moment. Probably explains the free for all out there!

Take care of each other – Brad

Update 9th August 2011

One by one the line up in the South corner at Bondi filled up with many humans! It reminded me of busy Heathrow airport. Each surfer lining up behind each other testing their cold engines with star jumps and lunges before taking off into the water. At 6.30am there was easily a 50 strong crowd packed like sardines picking off wave after wave. To be honest it's a little wobbly out there but there are still some great waves to be had, if you can get one to yourself that is! Sets are hitting the 4 ft mark and will hold at that size throughout the day and into tomorrow. Yes, that west wind should also hang around!

Great to see some friendly faces down there this morning. A big thank you goes out to Leah – Wal's lovely girl pictured in today's portrait with AH for supporting the Froth sporting one of our trucker hats!

Have a great day humans! – Brad
