Update 21st June 2011

Another glorious start to the day out there. There is still some leftovers in the line up from the SE at about 2 – sometimes 3ft. Bondi once again was the pick of the bunch and is still very warm in the water for this time of year. The usual crowd were out. Otis Carey was up to his usual tricks while Julia, Tim Ok and Deadly scored some good ones as well. Lifeguard Azza Graham measured the water temp at a balmy 19.5 degrees meaning its short arm steamers all day long. Like yesterday make the most of it now as the NNW wind is expected to cause havoc later getting up to 55km.

Lucas and Dylan, the two young lads in todays lot of photo's are from Redham high school and were out surfing Bondi for their school sport. Lucas wants to play footy for St George while Dylan wants to be a pro surfer! Great to meet you guys this morning and good luck with your dreams to become sporting heroes!

PS. Had a few enquiries about the deal at Namotu Island in Fiji yesterday. There's still a few spots going at a really really good rate. Let me know if your interested or click on the Ad for more info.

The Frothers Gallery is open all day today at 145 C Macpherson St Bronte. It's really called the Bronte top shops. We do gift vouchers for Birthdays, Weddings, Engagements or anything so if your in need of a present call in and say g'day.

Have a great day – Brad 🙂

Update 20th June 2011

Good morning fellow Frothers! I've returned from Fiji and straight back into some waves. By all accounts the weekend produced the goods around town while Fiji was blown out with out of season north devil winds. It's good to be home and I'm super pumped to bring you back the daily Froth reports. This morning I hit up Bondi where the remainder of the SE swell was most evident at a tasty 3ft. There was a crowd out early hitting up the southern corner where there was a good choice of lefts and rights on offer. The wind will remain out of the west today keeping conditions ideal for us, but best get out there sooner rather than later as the swell is expected to back off this arvo before picking up again with a new little pulse on Thursday.

I ran into local lad Liam Geale who works up at Surf Culture this morning and he's headed off to Mexico tomorrow for 5 weeks. Have a safe trip and we hope you score some pits. Very jealous indeed!

News just in. There are a some spots left on Namotu in Fiji for next week 25th June – 2nd July. If your keen to hit up Cloudbreak or Resturants then here is your chance. It's a really good deal too, at a heavily discounted rate! Email us here [email protected] if you want to find out more.

Enjoy the day folks!

PS Frothers Gallery is closed today – Surf day today!

Update 17th June 2011

Yesterday was one of those days when I ran around like a headless chook trying to get the shot, as the guests on Namotu Island were spread out between five surf spots. When the swell is on in this part of Fiji it opens up alot of options, especially when the wind is playing the game. All skill levels were catered for from 8ft Cloudbreak to 3ft Pools. Surprisingly Rip Curl lads Dean Brady and Dillon Perillo hit up the softer wave of Pools and went to town busting some of the biggest airs I've seen in a while!

Finally the tide has turned on the weather front in Sydney. There is some ESE swell around and a stiff SW wind means you should be looking at the protected southern corners today. The weekend is looking ok for waves with west winds forecast for both Saturday and Sunday.

Have a great weekend and don't forget to call into our gallery, three doors down from Three Blue Ducks Cafe on Macpherson St, Bronte – The Duck's breakfast is the best in town, as voted by the Good Food Guide and the boys were also recently awarded two 'cups' for their coffee! Enjoy! Brad

Update 16th June 2011

Good morning! If you were up before 8 you would have been reminded what our sky looks like when it isn't shrouded in clouds. It was nice to see some blue sky and also for the Blues to finally get up last night!

Brad remains on his tropical oasis and he reckons it should be an exciting day on Namotu as a few team riders from Rip Curl, as well as an entourage of techies, are on the island filming a top secret super duper new flick. The swell has jumped up overnight to about 4 – 5 ft out the front on Namotu Lefts. This translates to Cloudbreak 6ft +, Resturants 3ft, Pools 3ft, Wilks right also 4 – 5ft. So there are plenty of options for the Fijian crew today and it looks like Brad's new 6'6 AH round tail might get a start! Hopefully he manages to take a few photos for us to enjoy while he's out there… Then we can all keep dreaming, while we slog away here in dreary winter Sydney Town.

I'll be at 145c MacPherson Street today, manning the fort, so if you're in the Bronte area pop in and say hi! Have a good one! Christie.

Update 15th June 2011

Bula from Namotu Island Fiji. An Island that takes less than 10 minutes to walk around and even less to stand up paddleboard. When you think of paradise this must be damn close to what most of us picture in our minds. Crystal clear water, palm trees, white sand and fun world class waves right at your doorstep. In the past visitors to Namotu were unable to surf the waves that Tavarua Island had exclusive rights to. But you see that's all changed! These days you can surf the world class waves of Cloudbreak and Resturants to your hearts content. It's now open slather but if your smart about it and time your run right then you'll score. There's plenty of other waves around to catering for all surfing levels.

It looks like you guys have been putting up with some awful weather the last few days and by looking at the Coastalwatch report it looks like there will be no escaping the onshore wind today and it doesn't look like settling down till Friday. Even more reason to be looking at booking a trip to Namotu and escaping the claws of winter.

If your driving through Bronte at any stage, don't forget to drop in and say g'day to Christie at our brand spanking new gallery at 145C Macpherson St Bronte. There's plenty of images on display in all shapes and sizes as well as smaller $30 ready to frame prints which are perfect for birthdays and going away presents.

Rug up! – Brad

Update 14th June 2011

Hello strangers, it's been a while between drinks! Let's put that down to an industrious 8 weeks of laying bricks, painting walls and installing flooring. However, we now have lift off! Christie, Bill and I have opened the doors to our long awaited shop space and we would like to welcome you to our Frothers Gallery. While Bill Morris has been a long time contributor to Frothers, we would like to officially welcome him to our team-The Frothing Trio! Bill has been shooting surfing superstars and ocean inspired art for over 30 years and is a master of the trade. He brings a swag of quality images to the Frothers Gallery, which add depth to our ever growing archive. The Frothers Gallery is not all about blowing our own trumpet, as we boast a strong team of contributing photographers from the East and abroad. When you glance at our walls you will see reasonably priced ocean inspired photography by Dave Campbell, Jeremy Wilmotte, Mark Halliday and Sean Davey to name a few.

While I would love to give each of you a tour of our new gallery, I am currently in Fiji shooting on the beautiful Namotu Island for a few weeks. Let me tell you that if your sick of the traffic and crowds in Bali this time of year then maybe you should book yourself a trip to Fiji and start surfing the famous breaks like Cloudbreak and Resturants. It's mental over here! Namotu Island Resort

Bill is also heading abroad to the Ments. However, Christie will be waiting at 145c MacPherson Street, Bronte to welcome you to our latest adventure! Also, stay tuned for some tropical solace from the cold Sydney days. Cheers, Brad.

PS Gallery closed Mondays – Open for the rest!
