You can feel the body slowing down, kicking back into cruise mode. It isn’t just old age creeping over me either, even if I do need an afternoon nanna nap sometimes. Just not having to deal with traffic jams or even a simple traffic light is such a plus. Country living, it’s a beautiful thang!
It’s all come to an end too soon unfortunately because it’s time to pack the bag, have one last dip in the warm, blue pacific with the fam, then fill the tank and do some highway surf’n south. That’s about the only type of decent surfing there is to do right now, the summer surfer blues have returned once again.
I should get one last shot for a wave at Forster, because with any luck last nights howling Nor’easter will have whipped up something to ride in one of the many nooks and crannies protected from the wind. If not, it doesn’t matter too much. It was just great to get away.
Cheers

It's for loggers only out there. The waves are pushing into Bondi at knee height and if you ain't got a long piece of kit under your feet you won't be surfing today. On the upside the water is fantastic at a very reasonable 22 degrees, meaning there is no need for any rubber. Now that's a good enough reason to dust off the old trusty and get out there.
There is yet another hot day forecast for tomorrow. They're saying the mercury will hit 38 degrees – so best be prepared. Start thinking of a good excuse to skip the office now or kick the day off with a morning dip. Make the most of it because a southerly buster will turn up late in the evening which will bring some funky weather for the weekend. It should produce some waves for next week though. Monday is looking the goods!
"Paul Fitzy's" memorial service at Tamarama park will kick off at 10.30am tomorrow. Everyone is asked to wear something colorful to help celebrate the way he lived his life. All that knew him are welcome to attend!
Happy Thursday – Brad

How many lucky people are still on holidays? I would say most are back at work already but if you’re lucky enough to still be free to enjoy yourself a bit longer, then it’s a beautiful time of year to be hitting the beach.
I’m not on holidays but I don’t work 9-5 either, which means I do get a few days off during the week every now and again. I felt like a little break from the hustle and bustle of Bondi, so I’ve hit the highway north to find a little peace and quite for a few days this week. Only trouble is, I took the wife and kids as well so I’m not sure how much of either I will actually get!
Unfortunately the swell has dropped off since yesterday but the good weather has returned. I’m guessing it’s the same story back home as well.
I’m getting back on the road to find a protected North corner that will give some protection from the nor’easter and hopefully have a wave as well.

It's not as warm as it looks, but there are waves this morning…
First, there was the alarm clock killing me: 5am, seriously ?! And then the ''cold'': 17 degrees. Mid-january: really ?! A quick check at Bondi: junkyard: greeeeat…My mood is terrible at that moment.
Hitting the road to get to Bronte (with the heating on), the sky is getting blue. Finally the sunrise, a nice one, with warm golden tones: I feel better already. Getting my feet wet to shoot, It feels much warmer in the water. I wish I was surfing. Smiles all around me, runners, swimmers, photographers, walkers: everyone seems to be delighted to see the sun again, after some autumn-like days.
1, 2, 3,…5 surfers later, the waves are still there in Bronte, offering some playful rides. It's not clean though, but it's alright. Enough for a bit of glide before work. If you can wait until mid-tide, then wait 'till then: I reckon it's gonna be better.
Bondi is a bit bigger, busier, and waves are more frequent…but it's a lot less cleaner than in Bronte. So, the choice is yours: what's your trade-off.
Now, imagine one of the World's best ski-freeriders and accomplished waterman, merging both his worlds. Have a look at this: waterskiing Jaws ! Don't worry about the overdub (it's in French). The footage speaks for itself !
Have a nice day. The sun is back for a few days, so go enjoy it !

Just when I thought that todays report was going to be a bit of a bummer with the crappy surf and onshore winds, the sun broke through a little gap in the clouds on the horizon and made for a spectacular start to the day.
But then reality hit home. After the sun tucked its head back into its Monday morning shell and I saw what we were left with I couldn't help but feel a little deflated. The waves are crappy. It's a windblown mess out there right now but if your the adventurous type try having a look a bit later on the higher tide and you might have a good chance that it may have picked up a little too! Crowd will be to a minimum which is an added bonus.
Enjoy the day – Hope things clean up for us all – Brad
