The ocean is as smooth as silk today, there's not a ripple or a splash. But don't be fooled. As it is merely a calm before the storm! From tomorrow onwards we are in for a super solid round of swell! If you check out the forecast from Coastalwatch then you will get an idea of what we're in for.
It's going to blow hard today from about lunchtime onwards so be prepared. A severe weather warning has been issued, so try not to park the Datsun 1200 under a tree today or she might just get crumpled!
I headed around to Clovelly this morning to bring you something different on this flat tac morning. There were only a few brave souls in the water throwing their arms over to start the day. While there may have only been a few humans in the big blue, there were certainly many barnacled giants on the horizon. Happy whale spotting! Brad

Good morning Frothers! It was a beauty of a sunrise this morning and I got a little carried away trying to capture it for you. Luckily the sunrise was special, because the surf conditions today are not. It is a little lack luster, but while the sun's shining you should at least get down their for a swim!
The surf is looking to pick up on Wednesday with a new south swell and WSW winds – so stay tuned.
A big congrats goes to Maroubra's Paul Moffat who was crowned this year's over 35 men's champion at the NSW title's last week. He scored a perfect 10 for one of his ride's. Check out the article link on our homepage for more.
Enjoy your day, Brad.

Good morning! A little dark and gloomy early again today but not as cold as it has felt the last few days. The sun poked its head out over some dark clouds right on 7.30 to light up the beaches with a few golden rays. You'll be pleased to know that the little stretch of onshore winds we were experiencing has disappeared and we now have a nice light winter westerly grooming 3 feet of ESE swell. Both Maroubra and Bondi have some nice little waves with Bondi edging out the Bra being slightly bigger. Half a dozen guys were sharing a bowling left in the southern corner of Bondi with a crowd of 20 – 30 frothing madly around on the peak in the middle of the beach. The water is still quite warm at 19 degrees so if your lucky enough to have the day off, jump in your wetsuit and get amongst it.
Hope you have a great day and also enjoy the weekend!
The Gallery is open all weekend at 145C Macpherson St Bronte if you need something for the wall at home!

Good morning. Nick Sheffield back again for the days report. It was a bit of a gloomy morning with lots of grey cloud hovering above, but there are a few mushy waves around the bends for those who were up early. Wave heights are around the 3ft mark and a hint of East direction in it, but the wind is still blowing onshore from the south east. The good thing however is that the wind has backed off from yesterday and there are some relatively clean faces for surfers this morning. Maroubra would be the pick of the bunch today.
Crowds were not really a worry in the water but on the footpaths it was business as usual for the morning joggers. Winds are due to remain fairly light onshore all day so if you can scope out a nice bank at the right tide you could score a fun surf.
Have a great day! – Nick

Hi guys! Bill Morris here. My first surf check update since returning from Indo and its freezing!!! Guess I'll get used to it soon enough. Its small and onshore on the southside this morning, pushing 3 feet of mushy south swell with Bondi copping the most of it. Nothing too great but there is a wave if you want it. Think I will jump in a steamer myself and test the water. Should be lighter winds tomorrow so hopefully a little better conditions on the way for all you frothers.
Its amazing how good you feel after spending 2 weeks in the Mentawai's on a beautiful boat. I was lucky enough to be on the Pelagic, skippered by good friend and Bondi local Mark "Corky" Coleman who showed us some great waves ranging from 4-10 feet. I got some good ones myself. This was a work trip for me but it certainly didnt feel like it. I was there to shoot Oakley's 2012 advertising campaign and they couldnt have picked a better spot to do it as far as I was concerned. It was a great success. Im happy to be home now and looking forward to shooting local and bringing you guys our daily reports.
Our gallery is open at 145c Macpherson Street, Bronte. Lots of cool goodies to check out if you're thinking of something for yourself or a gift for a friend or family.
Cheers Bill
