Up-date 09th January 2014

A lot of you went for a paddle this morning, as you needed your fix, after a few mornings of nothing. But it was disappointing, wasn't it ?

Mushy, shifty…The waves in Bondi were like teenagers: searching for a personality. Is it a right ? No, finally it's left. Is it a left. Oh no, it's a close-out.

Since tomorrow seems to be more promising wave-wise, I decided to shoot a slice of life. Bondi is great for that. You don't need to move around to get shots. Stay in one spot: things will happen around you.

On a different note, you've probably heard about the weather in the Northern hemisphere at the moment, between the cold wave in the US and Hercules on the Atlantic Ocean. Well, Hercules delivered some pretty amazing swell in the South of France. A wave that only works when all the stars line-up, and called Belharra. Shane Dorian, Benjamin Sanchis, Jamie Mitchell (and a larger bunch) were there to score. The footage is pretty amazing (click here). Have a look at those rides that will be competing in the Billabong XXL challenge!

Tomorrow is Fluro Friday, don't forget !

Have a nice one

I know that this bad weather is almost over…but 3 days of wind/rain/clouds in a 90 days long Summer is already too long to my taste ! Do you agree ? I even had to put the heater on, in the car, and wear a hoodie outside. Not impressed.

What can I say…It's been raining cats & dogs at dawn, which made it tricky again to come up with 7 shots. It looks like it's on the improve now, rain-wise, but I wouldn't leave without a rain jacket or an umbrella today.

You can go for a paddle…but your surf time counter will not increase by much.

It's a waiting game. From Friday onwards, we should be sweet !

Take care !

Up-date 07th January 2014

If I had not looked at my calendar when I stepped outside, just to make sure, I would have guessed ''July''. You know, those days towards end of July, right in the middle of Winter ? This is how it looked and felt today.

To be fair, it was 18 degrees very early on. But, the problem is that it is hardly going to be warmer at all during the day. The Southerly is blowing its 20 knots. The surf is terrible, unless you've always dreamed of having a surf on your own in Bondi, in Summer.

I tried to capture what I could in-between two showers, trying to spare the gear from the rain.

Let's hope for a better tomorrow.

Have a great day. Get some work done: perfect day for it !

Happy new year, Frothers !

What a great day to start off 2014: blue sky, divine water, and very light wind at sunrise…Another 2ft of swell could’ve been a good add-on to this (almost) perfect combo.

If starting to learn how to surf is one of your resolution for 2014, then today is your day.

There are waves, but I suggest you keep an eye on the Ocean, as the tide will have an effect on the size, given how small it is. Tama looked good this morning. Let’s see how it develops later today.

If you want to see great above/below water footage, check out the Ocean Film Festival Australia 2014, which will be touring soon. Our good friend Mark Tipple is part of the selection with his amazing Duct Tape story. Well done and well deserved !

Have fun today !

Up-date 31st December 2013

This is a wrap up, of a year that went like….that !

But soon, before we've even cured our hangover, there would be the start of another chapter, with new objectives, new resolutions, changes, etc…Some will last. Some won't. That's how things usually roll…;)

But before we start the new chapter together, I wanted to take a look back at 2013. Selecting 7 shots to give the snapshot of a full year is a tough gig I must say. But here there are, in a chronological order, as I struggled to put them up in order of preference.

From Bondi, to Byron, to Namotu (31 more sleeps before I return !), to New Zealand, or the US, it's been a pretty intense year of photography for me in 2013 that I hope you were as happy to view as I was to share.

I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all the Frothers' followers, supporters, likers, sharers, buyers. It's a pleasure to read your comments, share the froth with you in the water, or know that you're stoked by the fact that you've just hang a large print in your living room. All of that feeds my motivation to shoot more and better.

We'll be back on the 6th January 2014. Till then, I wish you all a great NYE celebration. Be crazy, and keep frothin' !
