Update 3rd May 2013

Ooh I've had a busy morning gang. I had my froth on heavily when I saw that it was semi pumping out at Bondi. So I hit the water with the lens and before I knew it was 9am. I had so much fun kicking around. Then it was a mad rush to get Big bad Franck Gazzola and his wife to the airport (Their both off to Namotu in Fiji for the week) Then a trip to our printer and framer – now here I am. You guys now have my full attention!

So if you haven't already. Get your butts out there because there is 3 – 4 ft of goodness happening right now. The wind is offshore and there are plenty of options to choose from. Bronte has a few and there are numerous banks to choose from at Bondi

It was great to meet Grant and the boys from Onewave having their Friday morning board meeting. Give them a LIKE on FB – They are a non profit community of surfers taking on depression head on. Life is better when you surf!

You still have time to go in the big draw to WIN an Anchor Shapes SUP. Now these crafts look mighty fine and it's well worth your while entering the draw. You just never know your luck in a big city!

Have a cracker of a weekend! – Brad 😉

Update 2nd May 2013

The southerly that blew in overnight has us back in the zone as far as temperatures go for this time of year. For the first time in a week I was feeling a little chilly, while I stood on the hill with my hoody pulled over my melon.

The swell is up. I was surprised to see it so solid with a few 5 footer’s peaking out middle Bondi. The wind is making it messy but if you’re like me, you would rather trade some cleanness for a little size and power. I hate groveling in a one foot shore break these days.

It looks like the waves will hang around for the weekend, which should please the 9-5er’s amongst us. With the morning wind conditions looking quite good, it should be a great weekend to surf.

Update 1st May 2013

It’s another autumn cracker out there today. I’m never saying its over again and I’ve already said it 3 times. But maybe if I keep eating my words, we will continue having the warmest autumn in 50 years. Maybe winter will never come!

Plenty of people out and about again today and the waves are actually fun! The swell is up a little and the wind is a perfect light north west, making for glassy wave faces to shred your shooter on.

The annual Apola Lifeguard Conference is on at Bondi for the next 2 days. It is also Waverley Lifeguards Centenary year this year. 100 years of protecting Australia’s most famous beach.

Lifeguards from around Australia will be in town today and tomorrow to hold workshops and discuss everything from equipment to new tactics for making their job in saving lives more proficient. But right now they are all having a surf contest in front of the tower in some great little right handers. What a life!

Update 30th April 2013

After all the picture perfect mornings we've had recently I was all excited to get right amongst the action and although there was some color in the sky early it was quickly replaced by dullness in the sky leaving me dispirited.

While the south change helped roll the clouds in – it has done the same with the waves. Bondi is now hitting the knee to waist high mark with no real defined sandbank worth mentioning. All you can do is paddle out and try your luck. Hopefully we will have something a bit better for the end of the week. Thursday and Friday may have something better on offer.

Up-date 29th April 2013

Where are the forecasted 3ft waves ?…

Warm weather (16 deg at 6:30am): tick. Blue sky: tick. Warm(ish) water: tick. Pretty sunrise: tick. 3ft waves: No tick.

Instead, 1 to 1.759ft, super clean though. Perfect for beginners. If you’re one of them, this day is for you.

What an amazing (long) weekend we’ve had! Still some good days ahead. I love autumn in Sydney. It’s actually not fair for a lot of the northern hemisphere cities which do not even get this kind of run in Summer!

Yesterday night, I went to shoot the sunset over the City. It was quite an unusual one: there were smoke clouds from a big bush fire happening in the Blue Mountains. Quite amazing ! You can see the shot on the Frothers Facebook page or on my instagram – @franckgazzola or HERE on the great world wide web.

This is my last report until I’m off to the paradise island of Namotu in Fiji. Yew!
Have a nice week.
