The magic run of swell that we have enjoyed for the last 7 days straight just keeps on keeping on. It's a little more junky this morning with the wind direction coming more out of the south west. There are still set waves hitting the 5ft mark. I was expecting more heads in the line up with the drop in size but it seems everyone is well and truly surfed out. This may be your last chance at the clean conditions as the wind will head even further around to the south – south east direction later.
Nick Sheffeild had a swim out at Bronte while I shot from land this morning in the attempt to bring you guys both angles. Nick found it a little difficult in the water with still alot of water moving around. But hey, at least he had a go in the bigger stuff!
Have you seen the front cover of today's Daily Telegraph? Billy Morris captured Coastalwatch forecaster Ben Mac ejecting into space on a giant set wave at Bronte on Tuesday. So check it out!
Have a great day. I'm off to see a man about a boat! – Brad

And finally, on the seventh day, the swell dropped a little. Allowing the majority of the surfing population, who’s fitness, skill level or general water confidence restricted them from taking part thus far, to join in what has been the most serious south swell event to grace the Sydney region this year. Not that it's over folks! The swell lines are still marching in at around the 4-5 foot mark. Remaining cleanly groomed by that same beautiful westerly.
If you’re a true surfer, then you have to love winter time. If you're true to your love then there will be no amount of cold, fatigue, or even a constantly wet wetsuit that would keep you away from waves like we are experiencing right now. So wax up frothers, get the leg rope back on the short board again and go ride some nice waves while they last. Hope you all have fun out there! See you in the lineup.
Cheers

I could really feel the wind-chill factor as I grappled with frozen fingers to turn the nuts of my flat tyre this morning. What a way to kick start the day!
There was a handful of brave Bronte locals in the line up at the icy break of dawn, enjoying the remainder of a great swell. Not that this is the last of the decent size as we are due for a new swell continuing from the south tomorrow. With every man and his dog on an oversea's trip at the moment it's nice for those of us left behind to enjoy some good quality waves.

Good morning and what another great morning it is! The start of new working week and the south swell we have been enjoying over the last 4 days is still pouring into the coastline, fanned by those same relentless westerly winds. They are not as strong today making for perfect conditions in the lineup. Bronte is still the pick on the Southside with only 3-4 guys on it right up until 8am this morning. Pretty mellow for Bronte, considering it’s usually packed for the early these days. I think the size is keeping people at bay with a few 6 footers still marching through. It could even get bigger as the day goes on. Everyone is feeling it too. That wonderful surfed out feeling that only someone who rides a wave would know about. Is there a better activity out there? I think not. Anyway, if you still have it in you and have not snapped your favorite board during this run of epic conditions, get back on the horse while you can because it won’t last forever. From all of us here at Frothers, have a great day.
Cheers, Bill Morris.
Also, we had been snapping away all weekend and you may just see yourself or your mate in one of our pics HERE
Stacey Batch, from LBR Productions, shot some of the best waves from Saturday. Check the VIDEO out HERE

It’s a very cool hello to everyone this morning as the winter westerly bites down hard on the city beaches. Just holding the camera and trying to feel the shutter button through locked up finger joints was quite difficult. Getting into your wetsuit for a surf a true test in itself, unless of course you were smart and changed at home in front of the heater. Either way, it will be worth it with a fresh new 4-6 foot + south swell hitting the coast. Bronte was the pick with some beautiful right handers breaking way out side, in line with the cemetery, with only 3 guys out before the sun popped up. Later the boys from Bronte paddled out and got some absolute bombs just like the one John Dwyer got in the main pic. Bondi had a couple of solid ones but was suffering on the low tide. However, it will improve later in the day. All in all an amazing winter morning out there with good conditions for the weekend. Some big calls going down on this next swell due Sunday. It could be the biggest, cleanest swell for decades but it's very south so we just have to wait to see whether it swings in or moves past.
From all of us here at Frothers, be careful out there in the ocean, enjoy and have a great weekend.
Gallery is open all weekend. We are selling flowers – so guys head in and grab a bunch for the Mrs! You're going to need them as you'll be surfing all weekend!
Cheers – Bill Morris
