There is a nice 3-4 swell running today and conditions are beautiful, with light off shore winds and sunshine. After yesterdays horrible conditions, it seemed everyone was up early to take advantage of the beautiful beach conditions.

Unfortunately, for all the early surfers, the deep gutters between the shore and outer banks, combined with the rising tide was turning the nice clean swell into fool’s gold at Bondi, Tama and Bronte. There was the occasional right at Bronte and odd wide left at Tama but all in all, kind of disappointing.

On the up side, it looks like being off shore all day today. Maybe as the tide drops out later we will start to see some of these clean swell lines lose their wobble and produce the goods.

It’s been pumping over in the West for the start of the Telstra Drug Aware Pro and all the focus has been on the 40 year old, 11 time world champ – Kelly Slater, who attacked ‘The Box’ 2 days ago – one of Australia’s heaviest and original slab waves. Apparently the aging king ruled the session, as usual. How does he do it? I think he must be a vampire!

Have a great weekend everyone!
