Winter? It's a myth! Well, at the moment it is anyway. I guess we still have a week of Autumn to go, officially, so I guess I'm jumping the gun but I'll run with it while it's like this. The huge high pressure that is hanging over us right now is making for light winds and clear skies. The ocean is irresistible and the water temperature! Will it ever get cold? Of course it will but its heaven right now, so live for the day, I say.

Small surf. Smaller than yesterday and predicted to get even smaller by tomorrow but we will see. It's still surfable, just. Better for a longboard or a fish or something thick, flat and wide unless you are a frothing little grommet riding a 4 foot nothing normal board, then you really would be loving these conditions.

While it's flat, I've dug up this little Surfline feature on what type of weather conditions create great south swells off the east coast of Australia. In particular, that amazing ground swell we had last year that went all the way to Fiji, giving Cloudbreak arguably its best day ever. There is a lot of jargon in here but some amazing photos too.
