Update 15th June 2012

Seems like the whole coast has been alive with waves lately and it's not quite over yet.

This beautiful east direction swell will continue for the next few days and slowly swing more to the south. It may  even get bigger again early next week. All this with offshore winds to boot! Hope you have your paddle arms ready because it's looking really good. I’m actually off shooting today somewhere, so I have left you with a look at a bit of Bondi late last night. It was solid and quite crowded for its size.

We will put up a ‘selfie’ event for you guys to peruse after this swell, so keep an eye out for a shot of yourself if you've been out there. We'll let you know when we post it.

I’m still blown away by that big paddle day in Fiji last week. Best I’ve ever seen. Paddling into big waves has moved to a new level of late. Check this Surfline feature HERE.

Have a great weekend.

Update 14th June 2012

Along with everyone else, I was expecting a magic morning for waves today. The reality ended up being a little different but, after a late kick off, there were a few. Speaking of kick offs, how were those mighty Blues last night. Feels good to kick some cane toad butt for once. It's been a while between drinks.

The rain had finally stopped sometime during the early morning but the roadsides were still full of puddles as we pushed south through the city. Perth and Cam were struggling to stay awake as the first signs of daybreak appeared between the rain clouds over Botany Bay.

The Cape lookout was full of cars when we arrived but the lineup was dead empty. The swell was a little north and even though a crazy one would funnel off down the ledge every now and again, it was looking fairly evil and no one seemed keen to take it on. That was until one particular wave came through which convinced the boys it was worth a shot.

Hope you scored somewhere good today.

Update 13th June 2012

Can you believe that it is still raining? Surely we have had our fair share. At least it backed off enough this morning to put a few shots together for you all. If you want to get wet today the only option is to head down to North Bondi and try your luck in the messy junk as the rest of the beaches are well and truly out of control hitting the 6ft + mark.

The bulldozer is back in Bondi and I met the driver Duncan this morning.  I've told him to push the sand back so we can have three perfect A – Frame peaks evenly spread out along the beach! We'll see what happens! At least this time he can't make it any worse.

Here is some eye candy from the BIG DAY AT CLOUDBREAK for you all from the best surf website going around SURFLINE

Enjoy the day – Brad

Update 12th June 2012

I just back from sunny Orange to rainy Bondi. Apparently, I missed the good part on Saturday and Sunday. Well, there will be sun this week, but I don't think we should expect too much for today or tomorrow. This morning, I was surprised by the lack of action in the water, or on land. Only one surfer on the BondiTama -Bronte strip. The weather has seemed to have convinced everyone to press that snooze button on the alarm clock a few more times, or have a cuppa…inside. Fair enough.

Now, the surf is average. It's rainy and grey, ok. It's windy, I'll give you that. The nights are looong, maybe. But, hey…it's Tuesday already, and most of us are getting to work for the first time this week ! That gives us 3 sleeps only before the week-end! A short week – how good is that ?! I reckon that should be the way to go – 4 days of work (paid like 5 of course!) and 3 days off (Warning: don't try this at home! The French tried it – it's been a disaster…)

The other good news is that the forecast looks good for the second half of the week. E swell with NW winds, a nice combo that will give plenty of different options for the weekend.

When is the next short week again ?…

Have a good (short) one !

Franck

Update 8th June 2012

I'm sitting here writing this while I watch Bede Durbidge hack into a 15 foot bomb at Cloudbreak, at the Fiji Pro live on Fuel TV. Meanwhile, one kilometer east of here and also in real time, our beaches are pumping too. Maybe not 15 foot but its 4 to 5, clean and perfectly off shore. So here is my dilemma – stay home and watch the contest or delete some of my wife's stupid TV shows from the full hard drive and record the contest for the next few hours while I go surf. Hmm… Guess who's going to be in trouble tonight?

It actually looks like the surf will be even better tomorrow, so don't feel too bad if you have to work today. Maybe sneak a peek at the contest online while you slave away at the office. It's worth a look. Click HERE.

Anyway, my wetsuit should be dry by now, so it's time to fly!

See you in the tube!
