Update 8th August 2012

I have found a pretty cool looking beach here in Turkey at a place called Oludeniz. It's a popular tourist destination and a must see if your thinking of checking out Turkey. It's full of backpackers and tasty kebab shops. A bit like Bondi but just with out the waves. Maybe you have heard of it. Maybe not! But it's worth a look around that's for sure.

Well your all probably wondering how I managed to get some aerial shots of this little gem of a beach. Well, Oludeniz is surrounded by a 2000m high mountain and the "Mad Turks" run paragliding jumps all day long. So I had to get up there and have a go with the camera. Let me tell you it was hard to shoot these shots while attached to a dude who was having a good old cigarette on the way down. Scary stuff indeed!

It's hot, offshore and flat as a pancake here! No waves….Hope your getting something at home!

Cheers – Brad

Update 7th August 2012

Unfair competition some might say. Well…that's true. It looked easy to them!

You don't need to go all the way to Fiji or to Turkey to see dolphins and blue skies (no, I'm not jealous !). Winter in Sydney is giving our fare share of all of that.. Ok….the water is a bit chilly…allright. But hey, how many big cities in the World give you the opportunity to surf with the dolphins at 6:30am and be at work at 8:30am ?!…

This pod of 7 or 8 dolphins were there at 6:00am and took off just after sunrise, when the surf crowd started to paddle out. They were obviously having fun. At the beginning, it was them, and 2 surfers. I reckon those two guys must have left the water with big smile on their face !

When I arrived at the beach this morning, I thought I'd find a lake. Yesterday was flat as, and the forecast for today looked lame. But instead, some nice little bowls were breaking, evenly spread across the bay. Playful, 2ft, nice little waves. It's a good sign for tomorrow: the swell size should be up a notch and the warm wind will bring us a taste of Spring…I'm salivating already…

I wish you all a nice day.

Franck

Update 6th August 2012…..

How does it go? “I’ve got good news and bad news. What would you like to hear first?”

I’ll tell you the truth, it’s not very bad at all, for any of us.

So, anyway, the bad news is; you won’t be getting as much of a look at our Beaches on Frothers for the next few weeks because as you know already, Brad is sailing around the Med off the coast of Turkey and unfortunately, as of yesterday, I will also be evading winter, while shooting and surfing in the crystal clear waters surrounding the beautiful Namotu Island Resort which will be my home for the next few weeks. How does that other saying go? “Someone has to do it”.

However, we won’t be quite leaving you in the dark at home. Our French Connection – Franck will be on the local front once a week to fill you guys in on the home front, while Brad and I give you a taste of something a little different to the regular Bondi or Maroubra shorey shot.

I told you it wouldn’t be all bad. Well, we have no objections anyway.

Update 3rd August 2012

Don't be discouraged by the crowd in the water today: you'll get waves ! Actually, in Bronte and Tama, there were more waves unsurfed than being surfed. The size is down a bit and all the beaches cope quite well with the swell size and direction, despite a few odd sets.

Waves are coming in constantly, the frequency of the sets is high, the wind is super light, and there is a good 4ft. It's like a well-tuned wave machine ! What else can we ask for ?…

This week-end looks really promising, which means it's probably going to be packed at the line-up. You'd better drive North or South to get waves for you and your mates only. Otherwise, be prepared to feel like you're in a mall on a Saturday afternoon, trying to slalom your way through!

Enjoy this nice winter day outside if you can. If you can't, well TGIF: just a few more hours to go !

If you are wandering around under the sun this week-end, come and see us at the Frothers Gallery in Bronte, 145c MacPherson Street in Bronte !

Have a nice week-end

Franck

Update 2nd August 2012

The mornings and afternoons of late have been extreme. The cold has been bitter as this stiff SSW wind batters the coast. The swell has also been huge due the intense low spinning off the coast but the colours in the sky, especially at sunset, have been amazing and bordering on psychedelic. The horizon has been filled with pastel coloured rain clouds, producing the occasional giant rainbow stretching across the sky.

There will be no shortage of waves for the next few days but you may need to travel and find a point or sheltered corner again today, as its still quite solid, even though it has dropped a fair bit on yesterday.

Enjoy!
