Up-date 15th August 2013

It's been tough walking through the Northern Territories with a big backpack and all the camera gear by 37 degrees throughout the Kakadu National Park…

It's just a matter of avoiding snakes, crocs, spiders, dehydration and all the nasty surprises that the wild wild North has to offer.

…Just kiddin' about the walking part (the 4WD does most of the work), but not for the rest !

It's probably the longest and furthest I have been away from the Ocean for a while. Great for a change, but I must say I am craving for a surf in this heat !

Now, direction Arnhemland, and the very North of the Continent.

Back home, it seems like a big swell is on the way for today. Let's hope so.

Have fun today !

Update 14th August 2013

Another glorious morning out there again and after rushing for the sunrise, which looked really promising, it kind of fizzed out! If they were amazing every day, they wouldn’t be as appreciated.

I’m not sure what’s happening with the surf. After a little jump yesterday, it’s back to minuscule. Tomorrow looks like it could be 6 foot but the internet has been so unreliable lately, it’s just a matter of getting up to see for yourself.

One thing is for sure, tomorrow won’t be as warm and calm as today, so make the most of it.

Update 13th August 2013

G'day Frothers. It's a great morning huh! The sun is out and the mercury looks to hit 23 degrees today, there is a slight bump out there. Only at south facing Bondi will you find a 2 ft wave for the longboard. It isn't really suitable for any other vessel.

So while the surf is not really doing that much I thought I would take the chance to introduce you all to Deb Morris our newest team member here at the Froth. As you would agree her images of mini waves are simply stunning. The kind that would look brilliant on the wall at home or office. She has won many awards over the last few years for her eye catching imagery and we are so happy that she has made her prints available for you all at our Frothers Gallery – 145 Macpherson St Bronte.

Enjoy your day – Hard not to really! – Brad

Update 12th August 2013

The pink glow through the blinds confirmed I’d lagged too long and missed a nice sunrise. There was still some nice colour when I arrived down the beach but I think the best was over. Oh well, snooze you lose!

After a brief burst of sun following the pink, the grey set in for the hour I spent shooting. A little karma I guess but hey! I love the grey! Well, not really but it ain’t that bad for digital. In the good old days of shooting slide film, you just didn’t bother unless the sun was out.

If you want a wave today, unlucky! It’s really, really tiny and as the tide fills in it wont be rideable at all. A few guys were giving it a shot this morning. Mostly middle-aged diehards who have to get there pre-work fix to maintain some peace of mind.

That’s the thing about the ocean. It creates sanity from madness…
