Update 6th September 2013

It definitely wasn’t the 16 degree minimum temp they predicted at first light and it felt a little strange to be in shorts and a tee, for the first time in a while, at 5:30 in the morning.

Clouds and colours in the sky at sunrise, such a nice change from the clear conditions we have had the last few days.

We have a small, very inconsistent ground swell around 2-3 feet. It’s a waiting game for the sets, especially with the high tide. Should be better later, even if the wind has gone a little onshore.

Have a great weekend everyone. It should be warm and hopefully this little swell will hang around too.

Some surf, some sun, but bad banks…Still an amazing way to start the day !

I felt like a virgin this morning: first day with my newly arrived water housing, after 9 months of wait…Ok, I had used once or twice a housing before, but it's like going from the driving school to your own car.

So, today's up-date is the fruit of this first time for me, and even though I was pressed with time, I had quite a bit of fun, I did not drown, nor got my camera soaked, and that 's what matters for me today !

There is some surf to day 2-3 ft, but quite shifty, and not adequate for those average banks. ''It's a left….no wait, it's a right….no, sh%T, it's a close-out !''

Anyway, I have to go. I hope you guys have a great day ! The weekend is around the corner…

Up-date 04th September 2013

You must be a grom, or very keen (or both) if you wanna surf today again…

But if you're targetting a swim, a run, a yoga session on the sand, a PT driven boot camp, or simply a coffee by the board walk, today is another perfect day for that !

The weekend does not seem to look the goods, but at least the charts see a little more activity swell-wise. Just a little random in size and direction, so be ready to drive a bit and dodge the Northerly.

It's a great day to go past the Frothers Gallery in Bronte. Pictures always look better printed and in a frame ! 😉

Have a nice day !

Up-date 03rd September 2013

Another one of those sunny-warm-springy-FLAT-fitness busy-blue day…

If it wasn’t for the stiches I’d gone for a swim after a jog, or simply tried my brand new water housing. The beach was busy, despite the flat. Everyone seems to be in ‘’I wanna fit in my bikini’’ or ‘’I wanna lose the winter beer belly’’ mode !

Now, on a day like this, how good would it be to still be able to surf and enjoy the warmth. That’s what the Wave Garden would allow the Wave Garden would allow you to do ! I must admit, I am not a big fan of the wave pool concept, especially in the middle of the desert. I find it a waste of precious resources. It takes a lot of concrete, a lot of water, bleached, and a big amount of energy. But the Wave Garden is different, and with a bit of water, a light structure but some very very smart engineering, you can surf a 10 roller wave, left or right: you decide ! Have a look at that Wave Garden 2.0 video: you’ll be dribbling.

Have a nice day !

Update 2nd September, 2013

It’s warm in the light and cold in the shade. The winter we never had is over and spring is here again. Its nature’s way of saying ‘lets party!’

Before long, our beaches will be packed and the car parks will be full again. They were half way there yesterday with many bodies dotting the sands for a beautiful, sunny Father’s Day.

The incredible run of weather and practically zero surf continues. They seem to go hand in hand and I’d trade the weather for some decent waves right now.

Have a great week!
