I’m on the dark side. The other side of the bridge. Only 6km away from Bondi in a straight line, but so different. Busy but much quieter.
I’d been wanting to shoot over there for a while but never found the time to do so. But since my wife was over there for a conference, I reckoned I’d use the hotel accomodation to allow me to catch the early birds of the northern beaches. And what a great morning to do so! For 5 minutes, the clouds and colours were sensational!
I tool the camera for a swim too, which I hadn’t done in a while. But the water was too inviting and warm not to.
It was a bit frustrating this morning to have to run from the beach to get to some meetings in the City. In normal circumstances, I would’ve stayed a couple of hours, would have shot in the water, and most likely would have had a wave myself after all that.
But no. Not today. I have to let you enjoy this perfect day (in and out of the water) by yourselves, you lucky frothers!
There is a slightly bigger pulse to the swell forecasted for tomorrow morning and favorable winds for all the beaches. Plan to get wet!
5:10am. It’s starting to be a notch early now to make sure to miss the sunrise. Especially when planning to get the first sun rays in Coogee.
Not disappointing though. The forecast was pretty accurate: clouds (for an interesting/moody sunrise), some South swell (for good water movement), and still a bit of South wind, which would make Bronte/Maroubra the most probable options for a wave this morning. Spot on: a very contrasty morning.
I didn’t regret my trip to Coogee. This pool is so unique. I love shooting it. Here are a few different with different lights and shutter speed.
Have you seen the moon last night. Pretty disappointing that the clouds invited themselves to the party. Tonight should still be good to watch, with much less cloud cover, which hopefully will make for better shots.
This morning was a still bit on the grey side. It’s getting better now but it was not the best morning. Still, the fluro crew managed to put a bit of RGB in the greyscale. But today, it was OneWave meets MoVember, under the lead of Charlotte ”Chachi” Connell and her son Finn, who’ve been wearing a moustache for the last 11 days. Chachi has got a great reason to do so: click here to read her full story and donate too.

At Frothers, we don’t talk about politics. It divides people. We look at what unites us: the ocean.
Whether you’re own a multi-million pad with ocean views or are forced to roommate with 5 other people to live by the beach, we focus on what we have in common: our love for the surf, the waves, the swim, the morning paddles.
Today is a nice day if you are after a fun surf. Bondi had some really fun waves at times. It’s not big, but really fun, clean and surprinsingly uncrowded. And I promise you that’s the best way to wash big/small problems away!
But because we care about your american friends and family’s well-being, we have a way to make the news sweeter: The Frothers Gallery offers a 15% discount for all deliveries to the US for all orders placed on/before Sunday 13th November (not for the next four years though…). So, if it is to cheer up someone who’s going to wake up depressed and angry (most likley) or to celebrate with them, show your American friends that you love them with a Frothers Gallery artwork. Let them see the glass half full!
