Update 11th November 2011

111111. Remembrance Day. Respect for all those brave souls who have fought and are fighting to make our country and the world a better place. Right now we live in good times and we need to consider that for a moment today.

It’s been a humid week. The air so dense, that we have experienced an evening thunderstorm almost every night. There is nothing quite like sitting on a beach headland at dusk, while lightning from a drifting storm cell illuminates the sky and passes out to sea. I should also add, as long as it’s not poring with rain while you are trying to shoot a photo and you have forgotten your umbrella!

The long overdue southerly change arrived last night to take the edge off the heat and surprisingly it has even brought some swell with it. It’s 2-3 feet, from the south, with a light N-E breeze making Bondi the best option.

Art fever has hit the East! Bondi Public School (Wellington Street, not Bondi Beach Public) is having their annual ‘Sculptures by the Schools’ festival tomorrow, which is in its 6th year. Individual and class exhibits from various local primary and secondary schools, will be on display. They will also have 3 FREE workshops available, hosted by 'Sculptures by the Schools' artists who have given up some time for the kids. There will be other stuff happening as well and I also heard a rumor that the best barista in town will be serving real coffee, so come down, get your fix and check it out!

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Update 10th November

There's still no luck in the wave department. It's micro and weak and not really worth a paddle unless your a logger.

The day job has once again dragged me over the bridge to the north side. I hit Mosman at about 5 am and drove past what looked to be a very bad car accident. I'm really glad I missed seeing it. Imagine being first on the scene to something like that! I hope the driver is ok. Anyway my next thought was to possibly stop and take a photo of the emergency services doing a great job, however no memory card! Shocker. I had to call my old mate Joel Coleman from Saltmotion in Manly to borrow one so I could get todays shots. Thanks Joel I owe you one!

The main shot today is of local Manly lass Rachel Fleming. She was pretty much ruling in the small crowd at Queenscliff. She has got one of the best styles going around on a longboard and I was stoked to say the least in getting a shot of her walking the board.

Have a great day. Bill is back with you tomorrow. Brad

Update 9th November 2011

There's plenty of solar energy around today and there were loads of people embracing it at the beach. It's going to hit 30 degrees before the storms roll in just like yesterday to cool things off.

There's not much happening on the wave front. The loggers were having the most fun out there this morning in the small conditions especially Miss Sarah Glover who was giving all the guys in the line up a good lesson. You can count on her to be out in the water on days like this! If your desperate for a short board wave give Maroubra a crack as the swell looks like it's more from the east. Still very small though.

I have a lot of people asking me where I get all my camera goodies, like filters and all the technical stuff. Try these guys Foto Riesal. They are at 364 Kent St in the City and have the most professional and helpful staff. Exactly what you want when your on the hunt for a new camera or lens.

Have a great day. Brad

Update 8th November 2011

The air was warm and thick on first light with a haze of humid low cloud smothering what could have been a beautiful sunrise. The swell has dropped to the point where a conventional board is becoming an effort. Maroubra would be ok but a log or a fish for Bondi is definitely the go.

So Kelly finally got hold of his 11th world title after a classic ASP stuff up saw him crowned twice in one year! Another record! As if if needs it. Do you think he’ll retire? Who knows? He’s still the best, that’s easy to see. If you are into ASP news and familiar with Bobby Martinez’s rant in NY when he gave the ASP a spray over their new qualifying system and left the tour in disgust, you will love this little tongue in cheek INTERVIEW on the tennis court where he mocks the ASP on what has just happened to Slater.

One thing’s for sure, Kelly has some amazing records and there has been much talk of him being the greatest athlete ever, in any sport! I thought that he was. That was until I read about Heather McKay, an Aussie, international squash player who holds records in three different racquet sports and wasn’t beaten in a game of squash in 18 years! Now that is an achievement. All sports are different so it’s difficult to give that title to one person.

Slip, slop, slap out there people! It’s going to be a hot one.

Update 7th November 2011

The swell has settled since the weekend and there are small but fun waves to be had. Just take your aeroguard to the beach today as there are thousands of flies all over the place. I had one make a direct hit into my nostril and I even think I may have had one for breakfast.

A fun right and left have been revealed at Bondi but it's crowded. It seems the swell of Saturday has shaped the banks up nicely and for once it didn't destroy what hope we had. Pick the correct tide and you will score! All you need is one good wave to put a smile on your dial for the rest of the day. 28 degrees and possible thunderstorms are expected today.

A big congratulations to the Bondi Boardriders especially Ben Davies, Beau Sevastos and Spanos for putting on a great day at the Bondi Single Fin Classic held on Saturday. Truly one of the best days on the local surfing calendar. The honors went to Craig Robbo in the open division and Dave Davidson in the highly contested master's division. CHECK OUT PICS HERE

Hot weather all week folks – Go surf!
