Summer is performing quite the sporadic tease at the moment as our days flit between hot & steamy to cold & windy. Winter made one last horah on Saturday as the wind blew off the mountains and with the blink of an eye the surf went from a meagre 2 foot to a solid 6ft. As the surf built over night we were greeted with 6 foot sets on Sunday morning. This was great for the chargers over at Bronte Video who had a solid session but the conditions were not too favourable for the longboarders at the Chloe Byron Memorial Comp Click here for pics. Competition went ahead amid the rolling sets and closeouts with snapped boards a plenty to show for it. Kevin Holt took it out from Lifeguard Harries Carroll. A special mention to Col Sutherland and Peter Chapman who were ripping all day! Some great surfing went down and all for a great cause.

With the wild and woolly weather of Saturday it wasn't looking good for the Chloe Byron Memorial Comp on Sunday; but someone up there flicked the switch with the wind settling and the sun shining for the annual event. The men had a great turn out of both young and old competitors but the big surf seemed to have scared off a few of the ladies. Before each heat all of the competitors had to shake their groove thang, a delight for some stage ponies but horror for others. For those of us who didn't get our feet wet, not only did we get to laugh at the below par dance moves we were also entertained by the tunes being belted out and MC Henry Brycki's comedic antics on the microphone. A gold coin donation for an endless supply of jambalaya and crusty bread; could it get any better? If you were one of the guys dominating the raffle, then yes!
The surf was solid and closing out but that didn't stop the longboarders of all ages including the little junior burgers. All of the kids walked away with a bag full of goodies and a huge smile, but there could only be one winner for the main events. Taking out first place for the men was last year's winner Kevin Halt, with Bronte's Nicola Atherton topping the ladies' final. While winning the event is something special, the biggest round of applause was reserved for two heart felt presentations. The first, in honor of an award Chloe had won herself, 'The gutsiest effort' award was presented to Jennifer Reynolds and the 'Aloha spirit' award was given to a well deserving Z-Man. The Aloha spirit is a great way to sum up the day. Smiles all around, donations from the community and a wonderful show of support for a wonderful family.

G'day Frothers. Well there wasn't any lack of waves over the weekend. Some bump out of the S to SE and light onshores kept most of you bunch happy! Those who stayed in town any way. I was away at my best mate's wedding up at the beautiful Hunter Valley. Wow, how good is it up there. Fine wine and dining and yes the golf did test my patience. What a wedding it was! Congrats to Mr and Mrs Morgan!
The Frothers' Photogs were all out in force last week. Billy Morris doing the rounds locally and Maroubra's Jeremy Wilmotte had a trip to the South Pacific. He's been kind enough to give us a little taste of what went down. You can see the shots in the back half of this week's slideshow!
Bondi Boardriders went south on the weekend to take on the Werri Boardriders club and came away with a convincing win. Check out the footage in this week's Bondeye Candy wrap up.
Today marks 8yrs passed since the 2002 Bali bombings. Take a moment today to reflect on the tragedy and remember the loss and heartache that we all went through when over 200 people were killed. Even better get down to Bondi on Sunday 17th October and take part in the Annual Chloe Byron Memorial Longboard Comp. More info in our articles.

You've gotta love a long weekend! Especially when there are waves and footy finals on! It was great to see the local shops decked out in the red, white and blue but what a shame Rob Brunze's "Cock-a-doodle-do" couldn't get the boys over the line.
The Hawaiian monster has awoken and the season has kicked off with some solid swell! Sean Davey has been nice enough to share the action with all of us frothers and it is really looking the goods.
The current NE swell will hold in there till Thursday when a rapid increase in short period wind swell from the South will arrive. Friday and Saturday are looking the goods with a light NW wind expected. Enjoy the week.

You know Summer is on its way when you can't snag a car park anywhere near the beach! While the weekend was warm and swarming with beach goers we had some cooler days earlier on in the week. The beginning of the week also saw the tail end of the big south swells which tested our sand banks. Bronte reef was looking the goods and everyone was stoked to have some waves about the place!
This week is shaping up to be ok as well with a rise in swell expected in the later half of the week, however the winds may not be too favourable. Time will tell!
You may have noticed that we have tweaked the site a little to house the daily surf reports done by our fabulous hosts Nicole, Christie and Ryan Clark. Be sure to check back everyday to see what the swell and wind is doing for the day!
