Update 5th December 2013

After the last two days of fun sized east swell – this morning seemed a little below par. It just wasn't happening and didn't look too appealing. So I looked for other inspiration for todays set of images.

The highish tide brought with it some wonky tonk and it looked as though most of you stayed in bed for a well earned rest. Or just maybe you all thought it wise to wait for the lower tide. Tama and Maroubra will have a few 3 footers later as indeed that tide drops out, however you might be battling against a stiff SW wind in the afternoon.

Have a good one – Brad

What a day that is just starting: waves, warmth, and sun !

Arriving at Bondi, at 5am, it was lame…far below my expectations from reading the forecasts. But then, when I parked at Tama, that what I expected: 4ft, clean, some barreling sections, …and some jumping dolphins, as a bonus ! (I missed the money shot twice of Flipper jumping through the waves in the first light….that's what happens sometimes when you shoot in Manual mode…).

Anyway, back to Bondi, and the conditions had improved. And now, as I am typing, it actually looks the goods…

Bottom line, you should find some waves today, and some sun, which is not gonna last for too long. So go and enjoy it !

I wish I had been able to get into the water this morning, but I got really sick and had to head home very quickly after I had arrived to shoot. I hope you'll forgive me…

Christmas is around the corner, so come and do your Christmas shopping at the Frothers Gallery in Bronte, or visit www.frothers.com.au to find your perfect shot. For instance, think about a day in 2013 that meant something to you or to someone you want to please (a birth, an engagement, a new job, an exam….anything), and find a great (sunrise) shot taken that day, for this person to remember it forever. It'll not only be decorative, but will have a great emotional meaning too. So come and see us. Call us. Ask us. We're there for you !….And it's a great feeling to support the locals ! 😉

Have a nice day.

Up-date 03rd December 2013

Ending up a trip thinking ''when am I gonna go back?'' is usually a good sign I reckon…

But next time, there is a few more things I'll pack in my bags:
– a couple of surfboards
– a couple of kites
– …and a good wettie of course + boots

It's been amazing to see all this crystal clear water, clean peelers and this constant winds…and no one making use of those great conditions.

Anyway, that was the last up-date on magic NZ for me…tomorrow, I'll be shooting in Sydney, and the conditions could be quite nice. Keep an eye on the forecast ! It could be a cracker Summer day!

It's Christmas season already, and it's the perfect moment to come and visit the Gallery again, if you haven't done so in a while. Check out the website, and then come and see us if you have questions (or call), and we'll make sure to help you ! We've got great gifts ideas, for all budgets !

Have a nice day !

Update 28th November 2013

I must say that the swell and weather conditions are well above average today. Bondi had some nice mellow ones while around the corner had a few roundish ones.

So all in all it feels like that we are back to summer like conditions. A small SE swell and a fresh NE wind. This won't last long though. Tomorrow will see yet another south change which will hang around for the weekend.

Get in there while you can!

Cheers – Brad

It’s been an incredible run of encounters with great spaces, wildlife, and kind people.

The land of the Hobbits has used its Magic and has put a spell on us: the spell of eternal smile.

From mystic and misty Milford Sound, where mountains, waterfall of glacier waters meet the Sea to the tropical forest that leads you to a deserted beach where penguins come to breed…it’s amazing what you can do within 24 hours. It’s like changing Country.

Seals are the N#1 Frothers in this magic castle, and they seem to be the most playful animals in the water (with dolphins of course) !

It’s difficult to summarize all of that in 7 shots, but I did my best in bringing you a flavor of what NZ is all about.

Have a good day !

3 hours away, and you're in a different World…

So close, and so far. So close to Australia, but so different. So close to the Alps, but so peculiar at the same times, those mountains and lakes have that twist that make them Kiwi, and Kiwi only. I've been so close to the Sea the whole last three days, but so far away at the same time that I have not seen the shape of a wave. Instead, I have explored this amazing South Island, so naturally beautiful.

And what better way to discover the white heights of New Zealand than from the air ! Heliworks in Aoraki have been the best ! They landed me us on the Tasman Glacier, showed us around the local summits, and gave the best fly-by over the crevasses of the glacier.

Unfortunately, those pleasures are to be enjoyed soon: most of those glaciers are melting…fast ! Within half our lifetime, some will be purely and simply gone. Bitter sweet…

Today, I was by the southest of the South…but I'll keep that for tomorrow ! 😉

Cheers (bru) !
