Frothers Update 15th September 2011

Mush is the first word that comes to mind to describe the surf conditions today. Yes, our luck has run out, thanks to a weak south change overnight. The upside is that it's still hitting the 2ft mark but don't expect any quality if you venture out. Take your fun board or emergency fat wave plank to make the best of it. One guy that doesn't need such a board is Jono Arnold aka "The Professor" – Just when I thought it was going to be a day without any good surf shots Jono produced the goods, laying down some rail in the south corner. Yes, he really is a professor. Sometimes he lectures up to 150 uni students at once, so he tells me! Oh how daunting!

I shot the moonrise at Bronte on Tuesday night. There are couple in today's mix of shots. Hope you like them!

I've got 1 x Frothers Trucker Hat to give away to the person that shares today's email to as many buddies as they can. Biggest number wins! Too easy. Just hit that "Send to a Mate" button at the top of your email.

Have a smiley happy go lucky kind of day! – Brad

Update 14th September 2011

There's energy in the day today. Can you feel it? That sunshine working its way up to a balmy 25 degree's. Today is a classic spring day! People everywhere, doing their thing. There is some waves about too which is always a bonus. Bondi is up around the 3ft mark and has an ok left running into the south corner. There were heaps of crew on it early but hey that's understandable. It is Australia's most famous beach after all.

I am forever searching the net for sick surf shots and Surfline never lets me down. I am addicted to it. Check out these cool images of the swell from recent Hurricane Katia.

If you need some colorful art for your wall at home or the office for that matter, why not call past our gallery at 145C Macpherson St Bronte. We have lots of cool goodies!

Have a great day – Brad

update 13th September 2011

It's a beautiful Spring morning in Sydney and the waves are pumping! The days are getting longer because the sun is rising earlier and setting later. Which means more time for living and today is definitely worth doing some of that.

A clear, golden sunrise lit up the beaches early and the lineup quickly became dotted with before workers, frothing to get their fix and kick start their day with a better frame of mind. That's what surfing does. It makes you happy… More often than not, anyway. You only need one good ride to make that magic wash over  you.

Bronte has a few nice peaks in the middle.  Bondi is still quite solid and closing out  on the sets but the in-between-ers are good and there are even a few barrels on the lefts for those lucky enough to be in the right spot.

Those cold southerlies are gone as the winds swing around to the north this week. That winter feeling takes a back seat once more and will soon disappear totally. Lets just hope these Spring swells keep coming.

Have a good one.

Cheers

Bill Morris

Update 12th September 2011

Firstly, how's the Aussie A-Team over in New York – Sam Stosur and Owen Wright! It's nice to see the podium mixed up a bit with some Aussie blood. On home shores, the swell kicked into a higher gear over night. It seems a bit more powerful, somewhat more rogue than the last few days. Every now and then a good sized bomb will wash through. There were even a few closing out the bay at Bronte this morning. That's your best chance of a wave if you're keen enough. Maybe wait till later though, when the wind is expected to drop off. The water is a chilly 15.8 degrees on the temp stick so take some good rubber with you.

Did you happen to see Bobby Martinez's rant about the ASP World Tour at Quicksilver Pro in New York last week. If you missed it Check it out Warning STRONG LANGUAGE ALERT!

Head down, bum up – welcome to the working week. Brad.

Update 9th September 2011

Hold on to your Mojo people! Its Frothing Friday and the weekend is almost here! Even though it's a little bleak today, knowing that (if you're a 9 to 5er) you have 2 days off to run amuck in the city is enough to get your spirits high. And after all, that's what it's all about, huh?

Local identity and co-owner of "The Wreck" Bar and Restaurant – Rick Vaughan, has his Mojo sorted. He was happily washing the windows of his family's hotel – Ravesis, when I cruised past early and asked if I could shoot a portrait of him. "Of course" he said. What a happy chap! It's always nice to see a smiling local while on my photo mission rounds.

Festival of The Winds is on this Sunday and it looks like there won't be any shortage of breeze to get those massive kites into the air. Let's hope it's not too strong for them as it's always an amazing display in the sky over Bondi.

Not much surf yet but it's clean and the wind is still light. There were 4 guys getting a few out Bronte reef early and the same over at Bondi, with a nice small left in the corner every now and again. Don't wait too long if you're thinking of hitting it today. A big south westerly is on its way to chill things down and it looks like we should have some wave size again by tomorrow, with Sunday looking pretty good as the wind goes more west. But you will definitely need a warm wetsuit.

Have a great weekend everyone. See you next week!
