Update 7th September 2011

We still got waves folks. Fun ones too. That's if your at the right beach of course. I ventured to Maroubra this morning just after sunrise to catch the morning golden light in all its glory. And wasn't everyone having a great time out there. Everyone was pretty much ripping it! Good to see.

There is 2  – 3ft sets hitting the beach still with the ENE direction in it and conditions were ideal although a little brisk thanks to a fresh WSW wind. Hit it now as the high tide this afternoon might fatten things up a bit. Make the most of the sunlight as those showers are not too far away!

If you have time to kill today catch up on all the action from Round 1 at the Quicksilver Pro, New York. Watch Heats on demand.

Have an awesome day! – Brad

Update 6th September 2011

What a glorious morning. So mild out there. Staring down the barrel of 24 on the gauge today. Will it last? Yes it should for best part of the daylight hours so make the most it because they say the showers are going to roll up tomorrow and Thursday. There is a wave on, just not at Bondi thanks to the NE wind swell that is on offer. Give it a wide berth if you want to surf. I say head to the Bra where there are  2 – 3 ft of fun bumps rocking in. So a little birdy tells me!!!

Things are looking the goods in New York State, USA for the Long Island Quicksilver Pro. Check out the swell forecast HERE Can't wait to see the action!

Have a great day. Will try and get over to the Bra tomorrow. A few groms are keen to put on a show! – Brad

PS – Got a new fresh batch of Frothers Trucker Hats in. Only $15 instore – Now there's value for money!

Update 5th September 2011

It was such a warm Spring morning courtesy of a light north wind blowing overnight. Not much on the surf front today so I thought I would take a stroll down to a place we rarely visit. A place that holds fond memories when I was young of swimming, snorkeling & spear fishing – Clovelly. Surprisingly, not too many people were down there this morning with only a few swimmers taking the plunge into the chilly 17 degree water. A great way to start the day though.

Things don't look crash hot on the wave front this week, until a strong southerly blows in next weekend. I will be back Friday hopefully with some sort of surf photos again. Possibly Brad will jag a couple tomorrow for you. We will have to wait and see.

Have a great week everyone.

Update 2nd September 2011

How things have changed. The past half century has seen quite a significant shift in Bondi’s social dynamics. It's no longer the rundown, working class neighborhood of the 60’s & 70’s. In past decades pro surfers would rarely come to Bondi, preferring to head over the bridge to hang out and surf. But not any more. There are quite a few pros who now call Bondi their second home. Being close to the airport and always having some kind of surf to offer is a factor but the real reason? Bondi is now cool. It's party central these days – the place to be! It also has great cafes and pubs, chic wine bars and nice restaurants everywhere. The rich and famous have moved into The Di in droves and so have the beautiful women. So if you're young and you rip, it's exactly where you want to be. Beats a backwater caravan park on the Northern Beaches any day.

Damien Wills and Jerome Forrest are two such pros who have just arrived back in town from international surf zones. Yesterday they wasted no time at all in making the most of the little swell pulse that moved in to Bondi during the late afternoon. If anything, the visiting pros groom the skills of the local groms. Pushing the level of their surfing and keeping the Southside strong for future generations. Good surfing is also very entertaining to watch and as it progresses, it only gets better.

Today is two to three feet with onshore S-E winds. There are a few blue bottles still floating around. Bondi is your pick and probably will be over the weekend as the winds start swinging into the N-E. If you're after a last minute gift idea for Dad, check out our online store or come visit the gallery, it's open from 10am5pm all weekend.

Have a good one Dads. Grab a wave on Sunday and make it an even better one!

Cheers

Thursday 1st September 2011

I knew that I shouldn't have said yesterday that we were moving into the Spring wave doldrums because after checking the beach early this morning, I'm beginning to feel that I've jinxed myself. It was horribly flat, onshore and overcast. The water's edge was also smothered in blue bottles, which just rubbed it in a little harder. It can't always be beautiful but no matter what, we will still be out there shooting trying our best to bring you what we can from the morning – that will hopefully make your day a little brighter.

Father's day is almost upon us so don't forget Dad, after all he did have some kind of input into you being here. A Frothers gift certificate could be the perfect way to go. You know what they say; "a picture speaks a thousand words" and we have so many classic pictures that would surely bring a smile to yours Dad's dial this Sunday. If you're not too far away from Bronte you could always call into the gallery at 145 Macpherson Street and take an on-site look at what we have.

There should be a slight increase in wave height tomorrow but winds look a little iffy. I will be back again in the morning with more pics and a weekend outlook for you. Stay tuned.

Cheers
