Wait for the low…. That's about the best advice I can give you today. It is tiny at Bondi and there was only a shorey lapping up on the shore. It was fun for the in the barrel water shots but that's about it. There will be a longboard wave later on this afternoon. Otherwise just jump in the ocean for a swim. That will make you feel good. Guaranteed! The water is back to its best…..
Enjoy the short week. I'll be back next week from somewhere with cranking waves hopefully!
Cheers Brad 😉

What a howler of a wind it was last night. Luckily it was from the right direction because if you head to any east facing beach today you will find waves. The windswell has kicked to a very respectable and consistent 3 ft.
Maroubra was fun with options all the way up and down the beach. Plenty of seaweed around though. Be careful coz I almost drowned in it this morning. With just a pair of fins and a water camera it can get full on when you get stuck in it.
Nice conditions have set in for the weekend but the swell will slowly back off a notch or two which is a bit of a bummer. At least there will be something for our days off.
Don't forget you can buy Tim Bonythons surf movie IMMERSION online. It's one of the best surf flicks I have seen. It's worth adding to the collection!
All the best for weekend…. Tip of the day is to stretch! – Cheers Brad

What is it about ‘Retro’? Long hair, short boardshorts and zip up, smooth skin, wetsuit vests? Maybe I’m just getting old or maybe it’s the fact that I lived it already. It wasn’t retro then though, it was state of the art, the modern era and no one was pulling out 16 foot redwoods and one piece bathers. But then, I guess a single fin, apart from the ‘cool’ look, is a lot easier to get to the beach… And ride!
Today the single fin is everywhere again, either a modern version of a classic or a real 70’s classic itself. Originals in good condition are pulling huge money these days and it was only 10 year ago or so that they were practically worthless, you could even find them in the rubbish dump. Wish I’d held onto all mine. Here is a classic retro clip from the 1st surf movie my Mum ever took me to. It started the dream of one day riding my one fin board in waves like this. Click HERE.
We are back in the wave doldrums again today with waves lucky to be waist high, if that. However, the water is still amazing and the sun is shining, so it’s not all bad. Hopefully we will start seeing some classic autumn swells soon. That last cyclone was a bit of a fizzer. Lets hope!
Have a good one!

Summer is back. And because I want to enjoy it more, I decided to slow things down a bit…
I just don't want it to stop, so I'm think 1/15 to 1/30sec would do the trick, and make it feel like it's there for longer.
Today is one of those days: fun, clean, windless, with small 1-2ft (…sometimes 3) waves, playful, and exceptionally warm in/out of the water.
So get out there ! The wind is not too far behind.
Have a nice day !

It's a late one I know…Sorry about that! This morning turned into a bit of a busy one. A midwifes appointment and my little nephews swimming lesson were the priority this morning.
I hit Bondi early and there were plenty of waves in the 2 – 3 range from the SE but most waves were closing out or shutting down on the new straight sand banks. So, dissatisfied I thought I'd hit up Bronte after my morning duties. I hooked up with my good pals Dunstan and Bree and we shot a few frames on the reef and in the bogey hole. The water is amazing at the moment. Mad if you don't get in this arvo.
So it's back to smallish conditions out there for a few more days folks. Looks like some nice weather ahead though.
Have a great day… Brad
