Today is just too good to let it go without a swim. Without a surf, you may survive. It’s not the best day, even if there are a few waves around. But you CANNOT go to bed tonigth without washing your day away in the salt water.
It’s over 30ºC right now (sorry, I had to run in the City for a meeting before I could send the update). It’s the absolute beach day.
And if you take a sickie, no one will ever doubt you: it’s Tuesday!
Did you go down the beach to get your dose of morning sun and morning fun? I hope you did. Such a bliss. So much fitness, running, surfing, photographing happening, it’s crazy.
The water is so warm. The waves in Bondi were rideable, quite clean actually. Bronte & Tama are a lot smaller but less crowded as well.
Now, if you’re looking to shoot the newly re-opened Bronte pool, you gotta get up early as it is photographers-crowded. This corner of Bronte has obviously been missed by the lens lovers.

I’m on the dark side. The other side of the bridge. Only 6km away from Bondi in a straight line, but so different. Busy but much quieter.
I’d been wanting to shoot over there for a while but never found the time to do so. But since my wife was over there for a conference, I reckoned I’d use the hotel accomodation to allow me to catch the early birds of the northern beaches. And what a great morning to do so! For 5 minutes, the clouds and colours were sensational!
I tool the camera for a swim too, which I hadn’t done in a while. But the water was too inviting and warm not to.
It was a bit frustrating this morning to have to run from the beach to get to some meetings in the City. In normal circumstances, I would’ve stayed a couple of hours, would have shot in the water, and most likely would have had a wave myself after all that.
But no. Not today. I have to let you enjoy this perfect day (in and out of the water) by yourselves, you lucky frothers!
There is a slightly bigger pulse to the swell forecasted for tomorrow morning and favorable winds for all the beaches. Plan to get wet!
5:10am. It’s starting to be a notch early now to make sure to miss the sunrise. Especially when planning to get the first sun rays in Coogee.
Not disappointing though. The forecast was pretty accurate: clouds (for an interesting/moody sunrise), some South swell (for good water movement), and still a bit of South wind, which would make Bronte/Maroubra the most probable options for a wave this morning. Spot on: a very contrasty morning.
I didn’t regret my trip to Coogee. This pool is so unique. I love shooting it. Here are a few different with different lights and shutter speed.
Have you seen the moon last night. Pretty disappointing that the clouds invited themselves to the party. Tonight should still be good to watch, with much less cloud cover, which hopefully will make for better shots.
